Red Box

Red Box is born from the idea of viewing architecture as a game. An architecture that is flexible and customizable. Allowing various ways of being installed. In this version of the Red Box designed for the Concéntrico 09 Festival competition, we wanted to create a space practically closed to the outside. With small cracks in the enclosure that allow one to look towards the surrounding environment. As if it were an observatory. The interior is organized in a certain way that invites, or rather forces, the visitor to explore the entire space. This narrow, non-linear path is ideal for encouraging encounter and interaction between the people who visit it. In addition, thanks to this design of the route, we were able to generate several corners that serve as places for rest, dialogue, introspection or simply to look outside. Forcing the visitor to work hard to achieve the latter, since the openings are not at average eye level.

Although the Red Box has a red enclosure to attract attention and show its presence, the internal divisions take on different colors inspired from the environment; the grapes, the sky, the sun and the colors of the leaves that change over time.

Ngcobo Family Home Design

As part of the Ubuntu Architecture Summer Abroad Program, we designed a house for the Ngcobo Family that aims to create a functional, sustainable, and above all nurturing home with a central living space that serves as a buffer between private and public spaces. This design is a foundation for the family to build on, where the house strengthens  existing relationships and activities while creating opportunities for more stability.

Community Center

With this project is when I started to incorporate color in my designs. I wanted to create a community center that is vibrant, alive and colorful. A place where people can meet, play, dance, learn and live. The groundfloor consists of a combination of classrooms, offices, restaurants and an open area for street vendors. Some of these classrooms can also be transformed into temporary sleeping areas for the homeless during the nights. It’s a center where everyone should feel welcome and at home.

Asco Led Lan Dreo

Asco Led Lan Dreo came from a play with the letters of the phrase “Del Orden al Caos” (From Order to Chaos).
It’s the midpoint between “From Order to Chaos” and “From Chaos to Order”. Which is exactly the concept behind this project. A project where I explored the relationship between chaos and order in architecture. To see how far the boundaries can be pushed.

Education Center

This project was designed based off of a collage made from pictures of the site’s area. Which resulted in a more organic-shaped building that includes three rooms for artistic workshops and a bar.

Modular Hotel

First time working with a modular system, this hotel with a grid system of 3m x 3m. The idea was to play within this limited system with different ways of organizing the rooms. Even thinking about the possibility of being able to move these rooms within this grid to achieve a different organization whenever desired.

Aerodynamics

Together with Andres D’Aspi, we explored how we can translate the concept of Aerodynamics into a building.
